Published to coincide with an exhibition that reunited most of the works from a series of paintings created by Scottish-born Australian artist Fairweather (1891-1974) to illustrate his 1965 translation of the classic Chinese tale The Drunken Buddha, this volume presents the original text along with new full-color illustrations that were mostly produced by re-photographing the paintings assembled for the exhibition; brief entries, which were not included in the original edition, provide further documentation of the works.
