Published on the occasion of a two-part exhibition titled "Civic Action: A Vision for Long Island City," this volume documents a project undertaken by four international artists (Natalie Jeremijenko, Mary Miss, Rirkrit Tiravanija and George Trakas) who each headed a team assembled to conceive visionary approaches to development in the Queens, New York, community of Long Island City, an area that had previously benefited from the civic involvement of renowned artists and local residents Isamu Noguchi and Mark di Suvero.
