Published on the occasion of an exhibition titled "Das andere Agypten: Die Expedition Ernst von Sieglin nach Alexandria" but not specifically documenting the show, this volume presents marble sculptures from Egypt's Greco-Roman period that were unearthed near Alexandria between 1898 and 1902 by an expedition financed by German industrialist Ernst von Sieglin and that are currently held in the collections of the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, the Landesmuseum Wurttemberg in Stuttgart and the Institut fur Klassische Archaologie at the Eberhard Karls University in Tubingen.
