Documents the representation by British and Indian photographers of the Delhi Coronation Durbars, elaborate spectacles orchestrated to formally celebrate the coronation of each reigning English monarch as empress or emperor of India, featuring images of the first such ceremony, held in 1877 for Queen Victoria, the second in 1903 for Edward VII, and the third in 1911 for George V and Queen Mary, the last being the only one for which the British monarch actually participated in the ceremonies.
