Focused largely on The Epic of American Civilization, a monumental mural in Dartmouth's Baker Library that was created between 1932 and 1934 by celebrated Mexican artist Orozco (1883-1949), and the significant impact that the complex work had on the young Jackson Pollock (1912-1956), this catalogue documents an exhibition that included preparatory studies by Orozco along with drawings and paintings produced by Pollock in response to the mural after visiting Dartmouth in 1936 to view it.
