Documents an exhibition honoring the legacy of the Musee de Grenoble's celebrated patron Leon de Beylie, a famous French military officer, amateur archaeologist and avid collector whose generous donations throughout his life and upon his death helped to establish the museum's renowned collections, including fine examples of Asian furniture, sculpture, bronzes and ceramics collected during his military campaigns in Southeast Asia and the Far East, as well as Ancient Egyptian and Syrian sculptural objects, and a cycle of four paintings by Spanish painter Zurbaran (1598-1664) depicting scenes related to the birth of Christ.
