Reprinted nearly 30 years after its original release (and three years after a related exhibition was mounted at the Whitney Museum of American Art), this book features sixteen photographs omitted from the first edition along with two new critical texts reassessing from a feminist perspective the significance of American photographer Meiselas's compassionate series of documentary photographs that frankly depict the lives of women striptease performers working small-town carnivals in New England and elsewhere during the early 1970s. The accompanying audio CD includes a collage of voices from the carnival performances as well as a 1977 radio interview with the photographer (b. 1948).
