Providing a thorough review of the abstract oeuvre of New York-based French sculptor Kirili (b. 1946), this catalogue includes four critical essays and good reproductions of some 60 works in metal, stone and other materials produced by the artist from 1976 to 1998, among them rough-hewn totemic pieces and large sculptures formed from cut-out iron plates as well as many evocative installations composed of short plinths surmounted by iconic forms that often collectively symbolize spiritual "texts." The accompanying compact disc includes jazz performances inspired by a series of installations entitled Commandements.
