Showcasing recent paintings by a Korean-born artist whose rigorously abstract oeuvre established him as a leading figure in avant-garde art in postwar Japan, this catalogue presents an interview with Lee (b. 1936), an essay by the artist and three critical texts along with fine reproductions of 23 canvases and seven works on paper from Lee's Correspondence series (1993-97), most of the contemplative, highly reductive works composed of one or more square-shaped brushstrokes set against monochromatic grounds.
