Highlighting art works first displayed in exhibitions sponsored by the Fascist Sindicati delle Belle Arti in the Venetia region of Italy, this catalogue presents eleven essays along with good reproductions of nearly 150 paintings, sculptures, drawings and prints produced from 1919 to 1944 by Piero Marussig, Fortunato Depero, Afro, Emilio Vedova and scores of lesser-known Italian artists whose landscapes, portraits, figure studies and still lifes frequently reflect the idealized classicism advocated by the chauvanistic Novecento movement and the state-supported Sindicati.
