Thoroughly examining the relatively neglected body of work produced by celebrated Belgian Surrealist Delvaux (1897-1994) during his formative years in the province of Liege, this catalogue presents five essays along with fine reproductions of some 25 oils and more than 100 watercolors dating chiefly from the 1920s and early 30s, the selection encompassing many landscapes and city views executed in a restrained Impressionist style as well as depictions of nudes that introduce motifs central to the artist's mature oeuvre.
