Illustrations and individual discussions of most of the exhibited pieces are accompanied by 18 scholarly essays examining the role of the city as a political, religious and artistic center of the Lower Galilee region, the Persian, Hellenistic, Roman, Jewish, Christian and Islamic influences on its evolution, and notable buildings and mosaics discovered at Sepphoris.
