Documenting a partial remounting of De olympiade onder dictatuur, a 1936 exhibition in Amsterdam that was organized in opposition to the Nazi-sponsored show staged during the Berlin Olympics, this catalogue presents more than 100 paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures and photographs by Robert Capa, Max Ernst, Otto Freundlich, Auguste Herbin, Andre Lhote, Jacques Lipchitz, Charley Toorop, Georges Vantongerloo, Ossip Zadkine and nearly 80 other European artists who were excluded from or boycotted the Berlin exhibition. Includes four essays examining the political and cultural circumstances surrounding the D.O.O.D., profiles of the featured artists and a facsimile of the original catalogue of the show.
