OP RECLAMATION AND TRANSFORMATION: THREE SELF-TAUGHT CHICAGO ARTISTS -- DAVID PHILPOT, MR. IMAGINATION, KEVIN ORTH. Tom Patterson et al. Terra Museum of American Art, Chicago, 1994. 104 pp. with 114 ills. (111 col.). 31 x 23 cm. LC 94-60034 ISBN 0932171079 In English.
Showcases a diverse array of recent works created by three Chicago artists primarily from objects and materials found on the city's streets, the selection including totemic carved wooden staffs by David Philpot (b. 1940), figure sculptures assembled from bottlecaps, paintbrushes and brooms by Mr. Imagination (Gregory Warmack, b. 1948), and elaborately embellished bottle objects by Kevin Orth (b. 1961). A brief discussion of the "ad hoc" character of outsider art prefaces substantial individual commentaries on the featured artists and their works.
