Prefaced with a discussion of the art historical, literary and mythological allusions embedded in Marquez's enigmatic narrative tableaux, this catalogue features fine color reproductions of some 60 oils and mixed-media paintings and of ten wall-mounted assemblages produced over the past decade by the New York-based Mexican artist (b. 1959), many of the works depicting impassive male and female nudes enacting ritualistic dramas in abstracted interiors.
