Documents two concurrent exhibitions presenting 24 mixed-media paintings and 23 works on paper produced from 1982 to 1992 by African American artist Amos (b. 1938), whose expressive, vibrantly hued pieces include depictions of athletes and performers, images of figures falling helplessly through space, and portraits based on family photographs. Essays discussing Amos's inventive printmaking techniques and the cultural and personal themes explored in the featured paintings are accompanied by an autobiographical essay and a lengthy interview with the artist.
