BUKY SCHWARTZ: VIDEOCONSTRUCTIONS. Ed. by Bill Judson. Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, 1992. Published in association with Olive Production & Publishing, Inc. 148 pp. with 135 ills. (108 col.). 29 x 24 cm. ISBN 0880390239 In English.
Surveys the conceptually oriented oeuvre of Israeli-born artist Schwartz (b. 1932) through a presentation of some 30 video sculptures and illusionistic site-specific installations produced from 1977 to 1990, many of the works consisting of seemingly random configurations of mirrors, architectonic structures and painted geometric shapes that merge into coherent images only when viewed from particular angles or through video monitors. Excellent pictorial documentation and individual analyses of the featured pieces are accompanied by four critical essays discussing Schwartz's exploration of the logistics of perception and his inventive use of mirror and video images to produce elaborate interactive sculptural environments.
