JUDYLAND: THE ART OF JUDY ONOFRIO. Laurel Reuter. Minneapolis Institute of Arts, 1993. Organized in association with and published by North Dakota Museum of Art, Grand Forks. 70 pp. with 30 ills. (20 col.). 26 x 21 cm. ISBN 0943107032 In English.
Prefaced by an illustrated discussion of Onofrio's career as a ceramist and her experiments with large-scale architectonic installations during the 1980s, this catalogue focuses on recent works by the American artist (b. 1939) that reflect her strong interest in eccentric folk art forms. Fine reproductions of a series of elaborate wall-mounted assemblages composed primarily of small animal and human figures, buttons, shells, jewelry and other found materials are complemented by photographs of Judyland, the artist's fanciful backyard sculpture garden inspired by the works of outsider artists.
