Highlights photography-based works by four noted Vancouver artists who share similar conceptual concerns, presenting stylized oval portraits of children by Wall (b. 1946), billboard-like studies of cultural stereotypes by Lum (b. 1956), inverted images of pine trees by Graham (b. 1949) and serial urban views by Wallace (b. 1943). Five essays include discussions of the featured artists in the context of the development of modernism in British Columbia and theoretical examinations of photography as a vehicle of avant-garde art.
