Focused on a recently completed public installation designed for the University by Zimmerman (b. 1945), this catalogue presents illustrations of the featured work and of five other public art projects produced from 1982 to 1991 in which the American artist has variously employed massive uncut stone forms, concrete and pools of water to create elemental environments. Includes an introductory essay discussing the ecological and spiritual concerns addressed by Zimmerman's sculptures and 18 photographs by the artist depicting geological formations and ancient Central and South American sites that have inspired her works.
