OP BOHEMIANS IN THE BUSH: THE ARTISTS' CAMPS OF MOSMAN. Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney, 1991. 80 pp. with 66 ills. (30 col.). 22 x 27 cm. ISBN 0730586650 In English.
A thorough study of the history and significance of the rustic artists' camps established along the shores of Sydney Harbour during the late 19th century, this catalogue accompanies an exhibition of some 100 paintings and watercolors by such Heidelberg School artists as Tom Roberts (1856-1931) and Arthur Streeton (1867-1943) and by many lesser-known figures whose explorations of plein air techniques influenced the rise of Australian Impressionism. A lengthy text illustrated with documentary photographs describes the art community in Sydney during the period and chronicles in detail the progressive artistic explorations and "Bohemian" lives of the painters associated with two noted camps on Mosman Bay.
