Published on the occasion of an exhibition of drawings, sketches and book illustrations by celebrated Spanish poet and playwright Garcia Lorca (1898-1936), this volume includes a lengthy biographical essay; eight texts discussing specific themes in the artist's visual oeuvre; full-page reproductions of some 120 works (including self-portraits, surrealistic compositions, costume designs, and lyrically expressionistic images of women, clowns, saints and sailors); and an illustrated catalogue raisonne of 381 drawings produced by Garcia Lorca during the 1920s and 30s.
