Presents excellent reproductions of 129 works produced since the late 1940s by self-taught Japanese applique artist Miyawaki (b. 1905), whose colorful fabric tableaux composed of scrap cloth feature semi-abstract decorative motifs often based on marine life, flowers and vegetables. The catalogue's two brief texts include an outline of the applique tradition in Japanese art and a statement by the artist.
