ROBERT STACKHOUSE. Carter Ratcliff. Delaware Art Museum, Wilmington, 1991. 48 pp. with 29 ills. (19 col.). 28 x 22 cm. LC 90-22267 In English.
Presents recent works by American sculptor Stackhouse (b. 1942) that accentuate parallels between man-made and organic shapes, ranging from winding A-frame structures composed of wooden slats to large-scale watercolors and prints variously depicting ship hulls and snakes, linked by their analogous skeletal forms. The slim catalogue features a critical essay (illustrated with photographs of earlier monumental indoor and outdoor installations by the artist) reviewing the evolution of his lyrical, narrative oeuvre from its roots in Minimalism.
