Established in 1941 to compile photographic and descriptive documentation of notable buildings and other structures then threatened with destruction, the National Buildings Record now comprises an archive of 1.5 million photographs dating from the 1840s to the present. This publication presents a brief history of the project and 100 photographs recording a diverse array of British churches, bridges, manor houses, factories and architectural details, each accompanied by a concise descriptive commentary.
