Documenting the first exhibition devoted to the work of Siddal (the model for many of the most famous Pre-Raphaelite paintings who became the wife of Dante Gabriel Rossetti), this catalogue presents sketches, drawings and watercolors from public and private British collections, many of them illustrations of Arthurian legends, tales of romantic tragedy or biblical subjects. Annotated entries are supplemented by four texts discussing the stages of Siddal's life and brief artistic career and the connections between her drawings and her little-known poetry.
