DONALD LIPSKI: POETIC SCULPTURE. Freedman Gallery, Albright College, Reading, 1990. 56 pp. with 24 ills. (15 col.). 26 x 26 cm. LC 89-82748 ISBN 0941972100 In English.
Reviews the enigmatic assemblages of industrial supplies and found materials created in the 1980s by American sculptor Lipski (b. 1947), ranging from an installation of hundreds of plastic bags filled with dice and game pieces to a circle of overturned steel buckets spilling broken panes of glass. The largely unplanned, almost random processes underlying the creation of the works, their formal precision, and their inherent indecipherability are discussed in a critical introductory essay.
