FUSSLI (Fuseli). Nationalmuseum, Stockholm, 1990. 96 pp. with 124 ills. (7 col.). 22 x 18 cm. LC 91-210626 ISBN 9171003916 In Swedish, with English summaries.
Mounted to complement a concurrent show of works by Swedish sculptor Sergel (see Worldwide 53902), this exhibition presented some 90 drawings and paintings by Swiss-born English artist Henry Fuseli (1741-1825), whose dramatic interpretations of subjects drawn from classical mythology and Shakespeare signified the rise of Romanticism. The catalogue's three concise essays discuss the artist's career, the psychological themes central to his distinctive oeuvre, and the affinities between his drawings and those of Sergel.
