Presents the first noteworthy review of the work of Czech-born American photographer/physician Ruzicka (1870-1960), a founder (1916) and lifelong member of Pictorial Photographers of America, whose oeuvre includes still lifes, figure studies and numerous atmospheric views of New York and Prague. Two essays detail Ruzicka's role in perpetuating and refining the pictorialist style in the United States and his significant impact on the rise of modern Czech photography in the 1920s.
