PIERO MANZONI. Hirschl & Adler Modern, New York, 1990. 102 pp. with 49 ills. (33 col.). 27 x 23 cm. LC 90-84939 ISBN 0942051297 In English.
Illustrating a representative selection of 35 works dating from 1956 to 1962, this chiefly pictorial catalogue surveys the monochromatic pleated canvases, reliefs incorporating cotton balls and polystyrene beads, and provocative dada-inspired objects that established Italian artist Manzoni (1933-1963) as a leading figure in avant-garde movements of the early 60s. Two brief essays discuss a portfolio of eight serigraphs he produced in 1962 and a series of conceptual drawings (1959-61) composed of single lines inscribed on long rolls of paper subsequently sealed in tubes.
