Documents the restaging of an unusual internationally traveling exhibition organized in 1945 by French designers to present new postwar fashions in miniature versions, modeled by doll-sized wire mannequins in settings created by Cocteau, Berard and other artists. Including an illustrated inventory of the 170 surviving mannequins and costumes, numerous images of the original and recreated displays, and many period fashion photographs, the catalogue presents biographies of 15 artists and designers involved in the project and five essays describing the history of the exhibition and the cultural atmosphere of Europe and America in the immediate postwar period.
