Features two recent projects dramatizing the plight of the homeless by Polish-born Canadian-American artist Wodiczko (b. 1943): an installation of projected images and photomontages portraying a militia of the destitute, and designs for multi-functional mobile shelters, intended both to address emergency needs and to call public attention to a major urban crisis. Substantial texts describe the artist's ongoing Homeless Vehicle Project in Philadelphia and New York, and discuss the sociopolitical issues addressed by his works.
