OP WATERCOLORS OF PAUL JACOULET. Richard Miles. Pacific Asia Museum, Pasadena, 1989. Published in association with Meilinki Enterprises Ltd. 84 pp. with 69 ills. (61 col.). 27 x 22 cm. LC 89-63631 ISBN 1877921017 In English.
Featuring an extensive biographical text, this catalogue surveys the rarely exhibited watercolors of Parisian-born artist Jacoulet (1896-1960), who developed a delicate style based on ukiyo-e motifs during his lifelong residence in Japan. Dating mainly from the 1930s and early 40s, the 35 illustrated works (like the prints for which the artist is better known) consist primarily of portraits of Oriental and Oceanic subjects.
