Taking its title from French art critic Michel Tapie's recognition of un autre art (art of another kind), this catalogue surveys international trends in abstraction in the decade before the Guggenheim's iconic Frank Lloyd Wright-designed building opened in 1959 through a presentation of more than 70 paintings and some 15 sculptures from the Museum's collection, including works by Appel, Baziotes, Bourgeois, Burri, Chillida, Fontana, Kelly, Kline, Pollock, Rauschenberg, Rothko, Soulages, Tapies, Vedova and more than 50 other figures.
