First published in 2005 in a chiefly pictorial, bilingual edition (see Worldwide 120045), this revised and expanded edition includes 27 previously unknown plates from the seminal Prototype series by celebrated American photographer Baltz (b. 1945) and was issued in association with "Lewis Baltz: Prototype/Ronde de nuit," a related 2011 exhibition organized by the Art Institute of Chicago and later appearing at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.; although the book does not specifically document the show, it features a lengthy new critical text by the curator of the exhibition, Matthew S. Witkovsky.
