OP THE GREAT UPHEAVAL: MODERN ART FROM THE GUGGENHEIM COLLECTION, 1910-1918. Ed. by Tracey Bashkoff and Megan M. Fontanella. Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, 2011. 224 pp. with 127 ills. (108 col.). 31 x 22 cm. ISBN 9780892074150 In English.
Highlights more than 100 paintings, sculptures and works on paper by 48 important artists, among them Archipenko, Brancusi, Chagall, Duchamp, Goncharova, Kandinsky, Kirchner, Klee, Lipchitz, Malevich, Matisse, Nolde and Picasso. Please note that this unusually bound volume is designed so that the stitching along the spine remains visible; unfortunately, because of the way it is bound, the back cover is attached only loosely by a thin bead of glue, and tends to separate from the book as soon as the volume is opened. We regret that all copies suffer from the same problem.
