VOIDS: A RETROSPECTIVE. Centre Georges Pompidou, Musee national d'art moderne/Centre de creation industrielle, Paris, 2009. Published in association with JRP/Ringier Kunstverlag AG, Zurich, and Ecart Publications, Geneva. Distributed in the U.S.A. by D.A.P./Distributed Art Publishers, New York. 528 pp. with 305 ills. (85 col.). 29 x 23 cm. ISBN 9783037640364 In English.
Beginning with Yves Klein's emblematic exhibition of 1958 at Galerie Iris Clert in Paris, a show that essentially presented a vacant space, this catalogue surveys provocative "empty exhibitions" that have taken as their theme the subject of the void, including works by Art & Language, Michael Asher, Robert Barry and Robert Irwin, the documented projects accompanied by new critical essays, an anthology of related texts (some previously published), and a collection of one-page "interventions" by various contemporary artists who were invited to contribute to this publication. Note: the ISBN for the paperbound edition of this catalogue (978-3-03764-017-3) is also imprinted in the hardcover edition in error; however, the correct ISBN for the hardcover edition appears on the book's back cover, and is the ISBN cited in our record.
