Published on the occasion of an exhibition titled "Hugh Lane 100," this catalogue marks the centenary of the Municipal Gallery of Modern Art, which was founded in Dublin in 1908 by London art dealer Hugh Lane (1875-1915), presenting a significant selection of works drawn from the 300 pieces that formed the gallery's original collection, inluding paintings, drawings and sculptures by such artists as Constable, Millais, Orpen, Courbet, Boudin, Degas, Manet, Morisot, Daumier and Burne-Jones, while also providing a detailed account of Lane's campaign for modern art and the history and influence of the gallery now known as Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane.
