Accompanying an exhibition titled From Durer to Cassatt: Five Centuries of Master Prints from the Jones Collection, this catalogue features full-page reproductions and detailed individual discussions of some 80 exceptional prints culled from a pioneering collection of nearly 5300 etchings, engravings, woodcuts and lithographs donated to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts in 1916 by Herschel V. Jones (1861-1928), a distinguished print collector who continued adding to the collection in his final years with a view to representing "the entire history of graphic arts" from the 15th century through the early 1900s, the selection including works by such major figures as Pollaiuolo, Mantegna, Schongauer, Durer, Cranach, Goltzius, Callot, Hollar, Rembrandt, Piranesi, Millet, Whistler, Rodin, Cassatt and Kollwitz.
