This catalogue documents the first public exhibition of a Dallas collection noteworthy for its strong holdings of works by Texas-based artists (among them such contemporary figures as the Art Guys, David Bates, Forrest Bess, Vernon Fisher, Melissa Miller, Julie Speed and James Surls) and such Swiss modernists as Amiet, Bieler, Hodler and Vallotton, whose status as "provincial" figures from outside established artistic centers has parallels to that of the Texas artists in the collection.
