Documenting a project originally presented as a preliminary proposal in conjunction with Sonsbeek 93, an international exhibition of innovative sculptural works designed specifically for public spaces in and around Arnhem, the Netherlands, this catalogue features realistic figurative sculptures, documentary photographs and other works assembled by well-known American artist Kelley (b. 1954) as examples of objects that embody the "uncanny," an eerie sense of recognition, the selection including pieces by Hans Bellmer, Marcel Broodthaers, Jake and Dinos Chapman, Robert Gober, Duane Hanson, Damien Hirst, Edward Kienholz, Jeff Koons, Ron Mueck, Bruce Nauman, Cindy Sherman and Tony Oursler.
