Providing the first substantial survey of Bontecou's influential oeuvre, this catalogue presents five critical essays (one reprinted) and fine reproductions of some 80 sculptures and 85 drawings produced by the American artist (b. 1931) from 1957 to 2001, including early figurative pieces in bronze and expressive images of imaginary flora and fauna as well as many of the evocative abstract assemblages of welded steel, canvas and wire for which she received widespread acclaim in the 1960s and 70s.
