Extensively surveying the oeuvre of a French sculptor whose notable achievements have been overshadowed by those of his brother, Marcel Duchamp, this catalogue presents a detailed biographical chronology, five critical essays and good illustrations of more than 60 sculptures and some 50 drawings produced by Raymond Duchamp-Villon (1876-1918) over the course of his brief career, including early naturalistic figures and heads as well as many rhythmic, often semi-abstract studies of human and animal forms that reflect the influence of the Cubist and Futurist aesthetics.
