Was $65.00; save 40%! Reappraises the achievements of French artist and poet Bryen (1907-1977), a noted proponent of the Art Informel aesthetic who developed an evocative style of lyrical abstraction after early experiments with Surrealist automatism. A detailed biographical text and five critical essays are accompanied by good reproductions of more than 200 drawings, paintings, prints, collages and other works created by the artist from the 1930s to the 1970s, including pen-and-ink renderings of contorted figures and fantastic organic forms as well as expressionistic canvases dominated by mosaic-like patterns of color.
