Documenting an expanded version of the Cantarini exhibition held earlier in 1997 in Pesaro (Worldwide 26127), this catalogue presents five scholarly essays emphasizing Cantarini's links with 17th-century painting traditions in Bologna, good reproductions and substantial individual discussions of 66 religious tableaux and portraits (among them some 50 canvases not included in the Pesaro show) spanning the brief career of the noted Italian painter and thorough documentation of 88 drawings and 37 prints by the artist, a native of Pesaro whose oeuvre reflects the influence of the Carracci and of Guido Reni, his teacher.
