Illuminating Andy Warhol's role as an arbiter of style and examining his continuing impact on contemporary fashion, art and popular culture, this profusely illustrated catalogue presents some 1200 images that include reproductions of fashion advertising drawings, store window displays, celebrity portrait paintings and other works by the renowned American artist (1928-1987); documentary photographs of the artist and his "Factory" entourage; and clothing by Halston, Versace and other designers whose work reflects the influence of the "Warhol look". Nine essays include discussions of Warhol's career as a commercial illustrator in the 1950s, his lifelong fascination with glamorous Hollywood icons, the evolution of his Interview magazine and his activities as a fashion model in the 1980s.
