Prefaced with a critical discussion of Heizer's career and his seminal contributions to the Earth Art movement, this voluminous catalogue features a primarily pictorial review of more than 200 works produced by the American artist (b. 1944) from 1966 to 1996, including monochromatic paintings and installations of large-scale geometric and rough-hewn forms in stone, metal, concrete and wood as well as many of his well-known environmental "interventions," ambitious sculptural projects that have ranged from the excavation of deep trenches in the Nevada desert to the construction of massive earthworks inspired by the monuments of Pre-Columbian cultures.
