Highlights the achievements of French artist Camoin through a presentation of nearly 90 paintings and an equal number of drawings dating mainly from 1900 to 1930, including landscapes, portraits, nudes, still lifes and interiors that reflect the transition in his style from Fauvism to a mode of Post-Impressionism particularly influenced by Renoir and Bonnard. Augmented by a detailed biographical chronology, a critical anthology and excerpts from Camoin's correspondence, six well-illustrated essays include discussions of the artist's close associations with Matisse and Cezanne, an assessment of his contribution to the development of Fauvism, and an examination of the prominent role of Mediterranean subjects in his work. Please note last available copy has museum stamp in upper left-hand corner of final (blank) page and tiny red ink mark on title page; book is otherwise in very good condition.
