Fully documenting the career of a renowned Paris-based Venezuelan artist whose oeuvre embodies an innovative fusion of Constructivist, Op and Kinetic art techniques, this catalogue presents two essays, a detailed biographical chronology incorporating excerpts from numerous critical texts, and fine illustrations of more than 100 relief compositions and other works produced by Soto (b. 1923) from 1951 to 1996, including examples of his early paintings of geometric configurations of dots, squares and lines along with many wall-mounted constructions in which the artist achieves unusual optical effects by overlaying monochromatic and lined panels with wires and painted squares.
