A detailed review of the individualistic oeuvre of an American printmaker and painter best known as the founder of the influential Tamarind Lithography Workshop, this catalogue presents a substantial discussion of Wayne's career along with fine reproductions of some 55 prints and nearly 50 paintings, drawings, tapestries and mixed-media pieces produced by the artist (b. 1918) from 1948 to 1996, including examples of her early surrealistic pictographs, many dynamic abstractions based on molecular structures, waves and astral forms, and recent monochromatic, mosaic-like relief compositions.
